The city's top court chief justice has suggested his staff to donate to Edhi Foundation to honour philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi who died last week. Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, in a circular released on Wednesday, said, "The Lahore High Court must honour the late Abdul Sattar Edhi in a real sense. Therefore, the entire staff of this court may voluntarily and generously donate to the Edhi Foundation a minimum sum of Rs 1,000 each."
They have been asked to deposit their donations by July 15 with the court's treasury officer. Another circular specifying the amount of donation for judicial offices and staff was also released, saying district and sessions judges could voluntarily contribute Rs 5,000 each, additional district and sessions judges Rs 3,000 each, senior civil judges Rs 2,000 each, civil judges Rs 1,500 each and staff Rs 500 each.
