Health department conducts raids against spurious drugs

Health Department team conducted successful raids in a pharmacy store at Chiniot Bazaar and recovered huge quantity of intoxicant drugs and unregistered medicines. The team conducted another raid in Fatehabad and unearthed a factory involved in manufacturing medicines without drug licence.
According to the details, Convenor Provincial Task Force Kh Imran Nazir along with DCO Salman Ghani and health department team raided on Hafiz Pharmacy and recovered 7,000 intoxicant tablets and huge quantity of unregistered medicines. The owner of the pharmacy Hafiz Ikhlas was taken into custody and handed over to the local police for registration of a case against him. The raiding party went to Fatehabad and checked the Angle Human Health Pharma and found that factory was running without drug licence. The team sealed the factory and samples of medicines were collected for sending to Drug Testing Laboratory.
Talking to the media, Convenor Kh Imran Nazir said that the Punjab govt under the leadership of CM Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif was committed to root out the menace of spurious drugs and Task Force was working with new passion to achieve these objectives. He said that corrupt Drug Inspectors would not be tolerated and they would be sent to home in case of any case of corruption. He said that the drug mafia would be dealt with an iron hand and the habitual accused involved in manufacturing and sale of spurious drugs would be detained in the jails under Maintenance of Public Order. Earlier, the Convenor Provincial Task Force presided over a meeting at DCO office and directed the Drug Inspectors to pull their socks against the drug mafia. He said that no lethargy and dishonesty would be tolerated in this regard. He directed that the property owner should also be taken to task for renting out property to the drug mafias. He said that the manufacturers of machinery using in producing the spurious medicines should also be made accountable.
DCO Salman Ghani assured that the district administration would take elaborated measures for the eradication of spurious drug menace. He said that the performance of the Drug Inspectors was being supervised minutely and there is no room in the district for the corrupt Drug Inspectors.
