Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif has approved financial assistance of Rs 600,000 for prominent Siraiki poet Muhammad Shafi Shakir Shujaabadi. It may be mentioned that the poet is suffering from liver disease and had made an appeal to CM for treatment and financial help to meet his medical expenses.
This amount will be deposited in an account and monthly income will be given to Muhammad Shafi Shakir Shujaabadi. On the instructions of Chief Minister, a special medical board has also been set up for the ailing poet and Punjab government is bearing all expenditure on the medical care of Muhammad Shafi Shakir Shujaabadi. The CM said that Shakir Shujaabadi, who belongs to South Punjab, is an eminent poet and has rendered commendable services for the promotion of Siraiki literature.
