National Assembly Standing Committee on Government Assurances has taken serious notice of the absence of the President of Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) and the Secretary Ministry of Water and Power in the meeting and deferred their concerning agenda items for the next meeting. The committee met with Malik Ibrar Ahmed in the chair at Parliament House on Wednesday discussed six non-development sectors of Islamabad including E-12, C-15, C-16, and others in the meeting.
The members of the committee expressed serious concern over corruption in Capital Development Authority (CDA) and land mafia and affected people of these sectors. The committee directed CDA Chairman Maroof Afzal to take a stern action against those officers who are involved in corruption and embezzlement.
State Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that the issue of non-development of six sectors of Islamabad is 31 years old. He said that the CDA did not vacate the land by resolving the issues of affectees of these sectors and now their third generation is living in these sectors. Sher Akbar Khan of Jamaat-e-Isalmi (JI) said that what is fault of those people who purchased plots in these sectors but they cannot get possession.
The CDA chairman said that the grant of award without having proper funds was an inappropriate step by the CDA. There should have been sufficient funds before granting award to the affectees. However, they are making effort to constitute a board of honest officers to resolve this matter amicably.
