MCCI President flays surge in honour killings

Expressing dismay over the increasing incidents of honour killings across Pakistan, Fareed Mughis Sheikh, President of the Multan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI), said the business community vehemently condemns all honour killings across Pakistan.
He said, honour killings are a stigma on Muslim societies, and Islam does not permit any extrajudicial killings in matters concerning religion, honour or prejudice. Fareed Mughis Sheikh urged the ulema and mashaik to unite and eliminate the extremist mindset prevailing in society, and that the extremist mindset is a matter of concern in the entire Muslim world including Pakistan and added that extremist elements were defaming Muslim societies and Islam across the world.
He also urged ulema and mashaikh in Pakistan to educate the youth against extremist ideologies and concluded by saying, that amid the prevailing situation our ulema and mashaik need to pursue the path of righteousness while seeking guidance from the holy Quran and Sunnah.
