Chairman, Pakistan Chemical and Dyes Merchants Association (PCDMA), Khwaja Arif Kapoor has urged the government to withdraw anti-dumping duty imposed on hydrogen peroxide. Kapoor said local manufacturer of hydrogen peroxide created monopoly following the imposition of anti-dumping duty and increased prices 100 percent.
Kapoor said only two units are manufacturing the raw material out of these one has been shut. It would not be possible for the unit to resume manufacturing activities in next three months, he said. Taking advantage of the situation, the manufacturer increased the prices of raw material by 100 percent, while Commercial importers stopped import of hydrogen peroxide. The association chairman feared that the export sector especially textile industries will not be able to meet the deadline for their orders.
