Murad Ali Shah frontrunner: Bilawal to chair meeting to finalise name of new CM today

Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah would formally present his resignation as chief executive of the province at the meeting of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Parliamentary Committee a meeting to be chaired by party's chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday (today). The committee would also nominate the new chief minister of the province Sindh Finance Minister Murad Ali Shah is being tipped as frontrunner to replace Shah.
The development came in line with Tuesday's high profile meeting Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah held with party co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari in Dubai. Earlier on Sunday, PPP had decided to replace the chief minister Sindh in the meeting held in Dubai. "Bilawal Bhutto would also give approval of other major reshuffling in Sindh cabinet," sources disclosed.
Business Recorder learnt that PPP is preparing for next general election for which Bilawal has conveyed the clear message to the Sindh government that "perform or out". "Ouster of Qaim Ali Shah is the first major step to improve the performance of Sindh government," PPP's sources said.
They said Home Minister Sindh Sohail Anwar Syal would also be removed because the top party leadership is annoyed of him due to recent multi- billion corruption scam linked with his brother, Traiq Syal. Sources said top hierarchy of the PPP was facing severe criticism by party workers and other segments of society due to rampant corruption in the Sindh government, besides federal government and other state institutes have already raised their apprehensions on unchecked corrupt practices in ministries of PPP-led Sindh government.
The provincial hierarchy including ministers and top bureaucrats are being accused of involvement in massive corruption in the province and after raids by Rangers against government officials involved in financial irregularities, the PPP leadership decided to remove all powerful bureaucrats including Manzooor Qadir, Nisar Moorai and others. Self-exiled Sharjeel Inam Memon, Sindh Minister for Local Bodies had been accused of patronising water hydrants mafia that resulted in severe shortage of water in the city.
Moreover, Education Department has emerged one the most corrupt department in Sindh where officials earned millions of rupees as "illegal gratifications" for awarding undue promotions and recruitments, incurring grave financial losses to national exchequer. After the scheduled Parliamentary Party meeting, sources said, chief minister Qaim Ali Shah would send his resignation to Governor Sindh as per the rules of the procedure.
