Plantation drive in DHA kicks off

An extensive tree plantation campaign, 'Go Green DHA' initiated jointly by DHA Karachi and World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to add to the greenery of the area in a massive manner kicked off on Monday. Administrator DHA Brigadier Zubair Ahmed planted a sapling of a fruit tree at a ceremony held at DHA Phase-VIII to formally mark the beginning of the environment friendly Green DHA campaign.
During the campaign 30,000 plants of different species would be planted all along the roads, avenues, Khayabans, streets, medians and parks of DHA. Paradoxically, a record number of 100,000 trees are being planted at the upcoming DHA City Karachi project truly in accordance with its declared status of a sustainable, green and smart city of Pakistan.
The stakeholders of the campaign apart from DHA/DCK include World Wide Fund for Nature, Cantonment Board Clifton, Sindh Forest Dept, National Forum for Environment and Health, Mera Karachi Group, Critical Mass of Bikers, Institute of Architects Pakistan Chapter, Pakistan Green Building Council, Vintage and Classic Car Club of Pakistan, the Pack-Group of Heavy Bikers, Osmani & Company and Defence Central Library.
