Chairman Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABAD) and Vice President Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Hanif Gohar expressing concerns over non-extension of powers of Rangers in Sindh has said that the reward of peace will vanish in the thin air if effective operation against criminals and terrorists is discontinued.
In a statement, he said that the people, business community including builders want peace in Sindh and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah must grant extension to powers of Rangers immediately for the sake of peace. He further said that chaos was prevailing in Karachi since decades and extortion, kidnapping for ransom, targeted killing and street crimes were order of the day, business activities were almost stopped and businessmen, builders and general public was preferring to remain indoor due to fear of criminals and terrorists.
Not only that investors were forced to invest their capital in foreign countries. But extensive operation against criminals and terrorists by the Rangers, after they were given powers under the National Action Plan (NAP), businessmen, builders and general public of Karachi and Sindh heaved a sigh of relief and investors began to come back to Pakistan with their investment and business began to flourish. But people of Karachi and Sindh are again concerned because the provincial government is not giving powers to the Rangers.
The Rangers have given many sacrifices for the sake of peace in Karachi and Sindh and apprehended and killed a number of criminals and terrorists, he reminded adding that if the provincial government will not give powers to the Rangers, people will be forced to believe that the government is not willing to wipe out crimes from Karachi and Sindh and establish peace.-PR
