Over 1000 drug dens are active in selling drugs to the citizens of Lahore, pushing more and more youngsters, especially the outsider ones, to the drug use. According to the police sources, the Cantonment Division is heading rest of the city with 303 dens fully active in spreading drugs in town, followed by 223 in city division, 205 in Sadar division, 180 in Model Town division and 115 in Civil Lines division respectively.
A list updated by the police department suggests that there are also 84 dens of gambling in Iqbal Town, followed by 73 in Cantonment and 47 in Sadar division. Police sources said updating the lists is a routine matter, which is followed by raids. Meanwhile, another list prepared by the sensitive agencies, suggesting that most of the dens are being controlled and run by influential with political backing or connections with the police officers.
