The Karachi Port handled 133,303 tonnes of cargo comprising 116,919 tonnes of import cargo and 16,384 tonnes of export cargo including 5,838 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 116,919 tonnes comprised of 41,312 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,355 tonnes of general cargo; 31,462 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 18,100 tonnes of coal; 880 tonnes of soyabean meal; 633 tonnes of canola; 5,549 tonnes of DAP; 6,300 tonnes of rock phosphate and 38,790 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo comprised of 16,384 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 5,838 containers comprising of 3,078 containers import and 2,760 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The breakup of imported containers shows 844 of 20's and 966 of 40's loaded while 18 of 20's and 142 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 284 of 20's and 434 of 40's loaded containers while 408 of 20's and 600 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Ever Divine, Seadream, Xiu Chi, Kypros Sky and Bsle Nina carrying containers, oil tanker, canola and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were four vessels viz. Batam Trader, Kota Kamil, UACC Harmony and Bsle Nina carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were five ships namely Batam Trader, Kota Kamil, Navig8 Honour, Aditya and Ocean Quartz carrying containers, oil tanker, coal and steel respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while five ships namely Taroko, YM Excellence, Athina, Ocean King-D and Ananya Naree carrying containers, rock phosphate and DAP respectively are expected to sail on Friday.
There were three vessels viz. MOL Explorer, Xin Wei Hai and Da Zi Yun carrying containers and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Thursday while seven vessels viz. OOCL California, Sabya, MT Shalamar, Valor, Navig8 Amazonite, Unity and Jin Ao carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical, palm kernal and steel respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
