Turkish FM arrives

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu arrived here on a two-day official visit for holding talks with Pakistani leaders on bilateral relations and the post failed military coup situation in Turkey. According to Foreign Office sources, both sides are expected to discuss ways and means to further strengthen cooperation in different fields. They said that Foreign Minister Cavusoglu will also call on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and hold bilateral talks with Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz.
The visiting Turkish Foreign Minister will also speak to media persons during a joint press stakeout along with Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz today (Tuesday). The Turkish FM is also scheduled to meet Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) Lieutenant General Abdul Qadir Baloch (retd) on Tuesday. The visit comes in the wake of the recent failed military coup attempt in Turkey by a faction of military and Pakistan extended its support to the civilian government of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. On July 16, the Turkish Foreign Minister thanked Pakistan for supporting democracy in his country. "I am grateful to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif too for sending his message of support for the Turkish government and democracy in Turkey", he said in a message to Prime Minister's Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi.
