Highest-ever in single month: SRB collects Rs 6.842 billion SST in July

02 Aug, 2016

Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) has achieved another milestone by collecting Rs 6.842 billion on account of Sindh Sales Tax (SST) during July 2016. This is the highest-ever amount of SST collected in any one single month ever since SRB started collecting SST in July, 2011. The SRB has also surpassed the monthly target of SST collection of Rs 6.5 billion. The collection made in July 2016 is around 29 per cent higher than the collection of Rs 5.302 billion made last preceding month of July, 2015.
The officials said that SRB was the only tax administration which has continuously achieved its assigned targets without any mid-year downward revision since 2011-12, despite the reduction in the statutory standard rate of sales tax. They said that this achievement could only be possible with the continued trust, cooperation and confidence of its taxpayers, the continuous support and assistance by the Government of Sindh and the relentless efforts, devotion and dedication of its employees.
They further informed that SRB was now pursuing the assigned target of Rs 78 billion for the year 2016-17 and hoped to achieve the said target, which was 28 per cent higher than the target of previous year 2015-16 despite the further reduction in the statutory standard rate of tax from 14 per cent in 2015-16 to 13 per cent in 2016-17.
