KCCI elections: All BMG candidates elected unopposed

All the 15 candidates of Businessmen Group (BMG) led by Siraj Kassim Teli have been elected unopposed as members of managing committee of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) for two years.
The Election Committee of the Chamber had received only 61 nomination papers, against 15 vacant seats of the managing committee till last date out of them 34 were rejected for different reasons and 12 withdrawn their nominations.
According to unofficial results, those who returned unopposed includes M. Younus Sommro, Asif Nisar, Shamim Ahmed Firpo, Mohammad Saqib, Ali Raza Sheikh, M. Rehan Hanif, Sohail Amin, Major Munir Ahmed (R), Ahmed Azeem Alavi, Mohammad Hanif Ayoob, Danish Iqbal, Abdul Rehman Naqvi, Mansoor Ahmed, Safdar Ali and Shamsul Islam Khan.
It is worth mentioning the managing committee of KCCI comprises 30 members and out of them 15 retires every year. However, the managing committee elects office-bearers for one year.
After winning all the 15 seats of managing committee, it is sure that the BMG will grab all the three seats of office-bearers of KCCI for the year 2016-17 as unopposed.
Election of President, Senior Vice President and Vice President will be held on September 26, 2016.
Members of KCCI say that the transition to a new governing body of the chamber could be a time of heightened challenges for them.
They said the next governing body must make efforts to resolve growing economic challenges along ever increasing cost of manufacturing, cost of doing business, worsening law and order, and increasing fuel, electricity and gas tariffs.
