CoAS witnesses counter-terrorism exercise in China

Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Raheel Sharif on Wednesday witnessed a counter-terrorism exercise in Ku'erla (Korla) in China training base of People's Liberation Army (PLA). The exercise encompassed a very effective neutralisation of a terrorists' base in a remote mountainous region employing all the modern aerial and ground equipment and gadgets, an ISPR news release stated.
CoAS appreciated PLA troops for their skills and enhanced abilities to counter all categories of terrorism. Army Chiefs of Afghanistan and Tajikistan were also present to witness the exercise. CoAS during his visit to exercise area also witnessed Chinese military equipment display.
Earlier in the morning of Wednesday, the CoAS had arrived Urumqi on a day-long visit to China. CoAS held meeting with Chief of General Staff General Fang of People Liberation Army and discussed military to military relations, bilateral security cooperation and all dimensions of long-term security of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
CoAS held separate meeting with Party Secretary Xinkiang Province, Zhang Chun Xian. They discussed Pakistan-China bilateral relations and regional security issues with particular reference to CPEC project completion and security.
