An anti-terrorism court on Wednesday rejected bail applications of Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) leader Anis Qaimkhani and MQM's Rauf Siddiqui in Dr Asim Hussain Terror Facilitation Case following which the two have decided to approach Sindh High Court soon. The two senior and prominent political members of Muttahida Qaumi Movement and PSP were presented before the ATC amid strict security arrangements.
The final judgement on their bail pleas was already reserved by the ATC during its hearing on July 27. Ilyas Khan, Qaimkhani's lawyer, in his argument, had denied all the charges levelled against his client and told the court that Qaimkhani never pushed anyone to give medical assistance to terror elements.
Qaimkhani, Siddiqui along with Karachi's mayor nominee, MQM's Wasim Akhtar and a member of Pakistan People's Party Qadir Patel have been behind the bars in Karachi Central Jail since July 19, for their alleged involvements in Dr Asim Terror Facilitation Case. They face charges of asking the former petroleum minister to provide medical treatment and safe haven to terrorists at Ziauddin and other hospitals of Dr Asim - the main accused in the case.
