Training, placement of youth in transport sector: Tevta, Careem Networks sign MoU

Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) in collaboration with CAREEM Networks will train and provide jobs to one hundred thousand unemployed youth in transport sector during 3 years. This collaboration will promote constructive change in the traffic culture of Pakistan and will meet the increasing demand of skilled drivers in the market.
In this regard, an MoU was signed between TEVTA and CAREEM here yesterday(Thursday) at TEVTA Secretariat which was signed by Chairperson TEVTA Irfan Qaiser Sheikh and Chief Executive Officer CAREEM Networks Pakistan Junaid Iqbal. Chief Operating Officer TEVTA Jawad Ahmed Qureshi, TEVTA Officers Akhtar Abbas Bharwana, Amir Aziz, Umer Farooq, Azhar Iqbal Shad, Hamid Ghani Anjum, Maqsood Ahmed, Mustafa Kamal Pasha, Uzman Nadia, Amber Chattha, Sarfraz Anwar and others were present at this ceremony.
Chairperson TEVTA Irfan Qaiser Sheikh while addressing the participants of MoU ceremony said that at present, TEVTA is signing MoUs with different national and multi-national organisations to introduce demand driven short courses. TEVTA will immediately train 3 to 5 thousands drivers including soft skills, road safety and basic Arabic Language.
Admission for this course will be jointly responsibility of TEVTA and CAREEM. Both organisations will design curricula to train the youth in this field. This course will be started in TEVTA Institute. Stipend will be provided during their training period. Matric pass having age not less than 21 years will be eligible to take admission.
Chief Executive Officer CAREEM Junaid Iqbal in his address said that Careem, the fastest growing app based Car booking service, has joined hands with TEVTA to meet the increasing demand of skilled drivers in the local & international market. Our organisation will help the successful graduates to arrange job opportunities to the trained manpower at salary range from Rs 22,000 to 25,000 per month.
In future, CAREEM shall be utilising these trained drivers for employment opportunities in Pakistan and Middle-East region. He further said that our company is totally Pakistani based company and our 85 percent drivers (captain) are Pakistani citizens in Gulf Region.
