Partly Facetious: Mian sahib's watch can rival any jewellery

05 Aug, 2016

"Mian sahib addressed the Saarc conference in Islamabad in an expensive suit and a tie! And perhaps it was the same suit that he had stitched in London recently, if you remember the tailor's assistant's Instagram photograph that went viral in this country..."
"Forget that... I say he did our nation proud. I mean the quality of the suit was top notch and the tie compared in value with... with the handbag of Hina Rabbani Khar, our former Foreign Minister..."
"Why the comparison? Oh I get it, since the same portfolio...."
"Shush...the point is that if you thought women accessories are more expensive then you have another think coming. If you take the combined value of apparel and accessories worn by Pakistan men and women politicians they are at par."
"What about jewellery? Our men politicians don't wear such expensive jewellery?"
"Mian sahib's watch can rival any jewellery worn by women politicians I say and need I add that the suits made in London in the famous Bond Street are thousands of times more expensive than any lawn suit worn by any Pakistani woman; but I would urge Mian sahib to give some lessons on a good suit and tie to his nawalas, I mean some of them wear clothes that are simply too shabby."
"Mian sahib junior wears good suits as well, he reminds me of that old Indian song -Mera juta hai Japani, ye patlun Inglistani, Sar pe lal ?opi Rusi, phir bhi dil hai Hindustani which translated is My shoes are Japanese, these trousers are English; The red cap on my head is Russian, but still my heart is Indian."
"What do these Indians know I say! I mean Japanese shoes are hardly well known globally, Italian shows now..."
"Don't be facetious."
"OK, but who were you referring to when you said some of Mian sahib's nawalas have no clue what to wear even though we know they are super rich?"
"Ishaq Dar my friend, the ties he wears went out of style long time ago, they are as thick as doorknobs...."
"He is a God fearing man. He may buy his son a Ferrari as a graduation present, or so I heard, but he will get full wear and tear of his clothes."
