Rains coupled with thunderstorm forecast for 24 hours

The Met Office on Friday forecast more monsoon rains coupled with thunderstorm and heavy falls for entire country in the next 24 hours. It also predicted a new monsoon rainy spell with thunderstorm gusty winds and isolated heavy falls at scattered places of Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Thatta and Karachi Divisions, besides at a few places in Shaheed Benazirabad, Sukkur and Larkana Divisions over the period.
"Heat low lies over north Balochistan. Monsoon currents are penetrating in southern parts while moderate monsoon currents are also penetrating in upper parts of the country and likely to intensify during next 24 to 36 hours," it said, adding that a westerly wave was affecting north-eastern parts of Afghanistan and its adjoining areas. Weather in the next 24 hours: Rain-thunderstorm (with isolated heavy falls) is expected at scattered places in Sindh, Eastern Balochistan (Zhob, Kalat, Sibbi, Naseerabad divisions), Islamabad, upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Sahiwal divisions), Kashmir and at isolated places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA and south Punjab (Multan, Bahawalpur, D.G Khan divisions). It warned that heavy falls may generate flash flooding and landslides in the vulnerable areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir.
Weather in the next 48 hours: Rain-thunderstorm (with isolated heavy falls) is expected at scattered places in Islamabad, upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA, Lower Sindh, while at isolated places in Eastern Balochistan, South Punjab, Upper Sindh and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Rainfall in last 24 hours. In Sindh, maximum rainfall was recorded in Badin as 58 mm, Diplo 53 mm, Dhahel 50 mm, Mithi 38 mm, Thatta 37 mm, Chachoro 30 mm, Padidan 26 mm, Shaheed Benazirabad 24 mm, Chhor 7 mm. Punjab: Lahore PBO 33, Airport 16 mm, Bhakkar, Bahawalpur 16 mm. Balochistan: Lasbella 13 mm, Barkhan 6 mm, FATA: Parachinar 5 mm. Highest temperature was recorded in Dalbandin as 43 degree centigrade, Nokkundi, Okara, Bahawalnagar, Turbat, Sibbi and Chillas 42, each.
