Rainwater being drained out from low-laying areas of Hyderabad: Chandio

Adviser to Chief Minister Sindh on Information Moula Bux Chandio has said that all available resources are being utilised for draining out rain water from different low laying areas of Hyderabad. Speaking to media persons before his visit of rain-affected areas of the city here on Sunday, the adviser said that Hyderabad had received heavy rains causing inundation of low laying areas and the concerned officials were working hard to drain out the rainwater.
He criticized HESCO for what he said irresponsible attitude which was hampering effort to drain out rainwater.
He called for evolving a comprehensive system on sustainable basis to deal with urban flooding situations arising out from heavy rains.
To a question he said minister of local government had taken steps for disposal of solid waste from Karachi.
Later, the adviser along with Commissioner Hyderabad Qazi Shahid Pervaiz, Deputy commissioner Hyderabad Moatsim Abbasi, Managing Director Water and Sewerage Authority Masood Jumani and other visited different areas of taluka Hyderabad including Phulleli, Pakistan Cowk, Mirza Paro, Tando Thorho, Aafindi Town, Tando Tayyab and Unit 2, 7 and 12 of Latifabad and Sehrish Nagar, Alamdar Chowk, Gulistan Sajjad and other areas of Qasimabad.
