'Modi calls for end to IHK violence'

This is apropos a Business Recorder news item "Modi calls for end to IHK violence" carried by the newspaper on Wednesday. According to it, India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for an end to the violence in Indian held Kashmir, promising jobs for young people, in his first comments since deadly clashes began over a month ago. More than 50 civilians have been killed in clashes between protesters and police and troops and thousands more injured.
Veteran Kashmiri leader Syed Alisha Geelani has rightly ridiculed Modi's approach to quelling the present unrest caused by the third Intifada of Kashmiris. They have made immense sacrifices towards getting their right to self-determination. Nothing short of that will appease or satisfy the Kashmiris. Period.
