KP faces shortage of PSP officers

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police is facing alarming deficiency of officers which has direct bearing on its fight against terrorism and militancy. KP Police has approached the Home and Tribal Affairs Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to meet the acute shortage of officers to maintain the operational capability of the units established for curbing militancy.
At present, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa needs 05 Addl: IGPs while only two are available. Similarly, in the rank of DIGs against 18 sanctioned posts of DIGs only 08 are present while against 35 sanctioned posts of SSPs only 17 are available. Similarly shortage in the ranks of SP is more glaring and out of 78 sanctioned posts only 57 are available.
Keeping in view the quantum of threats and recent terrorist attacks the KP Police has requested the Home & TAs Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to approach the government to post PSP Officers in the province in order to meet the deficiency and cope with the challenges of terrorism and militancy.
