Speaker takes notice of officials' absence

Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Thursday took notice of absence of Secretaries Ministry of Commerce, Education and Foreign Affairs and decided to issue separate show cause notices to them. Speaker directed the officials of Foreign Affairs present in the gallery to leave as Secretary and Special Secretary of the Ministry failed to show up despite directing them to ensure their attendance during the session.
He also asked the government to take notice of the absence of the officials. The Speaker said that he had asked Secretary Commerce to send Additional Secretary to the House if he was busy. The Speaker directed the Foreign Affairs officials to bring either Secretary or Special Secretary to the House, to be present in the gallery, after which Special Secretary came to the house as well as Secretary Commerce.
He directed the Secretary Commerce and Special Secretary Foreign Affairs to remain present in the gallery of the National Assembly till the Question Hour is over. The Speaker also reprimanded the Special Secretary Foreign Affairs for not turning up timely in the session saying that a roll call register would be placed in the Assembly to ensure the presence. The Speaker also said that he may write to the Prime Minister on absence of the relevant officials from the Assembly.
