12 Aug, 2016

Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz has sought help of the Arab League to stop the bloodshed and massacre in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir by its security forces. The Adviser wrote a letter to Secretary General of Arab League, highlighted the horrific Indian brutalities in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir, said Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakaria.
The Adviser underscored that India has unleashed a reign of terror against the innocent and defenceless civilians since the extrajudicial killing of a young Kashmiri leader Burhan Wani on July, 8 2016, the spokesperson said. Aziz also emphasised that the current situation in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir is the result of the continued denial by India of the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir that was promised to them by the United Nations Security Council in the relevant resolutions.
"It was emphasised that the current uprising is not an isolated incident but a manifestation of continued deep, widespread and long-held alienation of the oppressed people of the Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir from the Indian occupation", the spokesperson said.
He said the Adviser said that the spontaneous and massive uprising is a manifestation that Kashmir struggle is totally indigenous which cannot be equated with terrorism. "The Arab League countries were urged to call upon India to immediately stop the bloodshed and massacre in IoK and implement the pending UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir", he added.
