Chitral district: Smeda, PASDEC, CCCI join hands for economic development

Small & Medium Enterprise Development (Smeda), Pakistan Stone Development Company (PASDEC) and Chitral Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCCI) have agreed to initiate joint efforts for economic development of the landlocked district Chitral. The decision was taken in a meeting held here in the Regional Office of Smeda with provincial chief, Javed Iqbal Khattak in the chair. Others who attended included Chairman PASDEC, Agha Shahid N Khan and Senior Vice President CCCI, Sartaj Ahmad Khan.
They said that a formal tripartite agreement in this regard would also be signed the three parties soon.
During the meeting the three parties agreed in principles to work jointly for the potential sectors including marble & granite, tourism, hydel and horticulture.
CCCI SVP said that the chamber has recently established with the full cooperation and facilitation of Smeda, adding that the chamber would be formally launched soon. He expressed gratitude to both Smeda and PASDEC in extending cooperation in this regard.
Sartaj Ahmad Khan also requested Smeda and PASDEC for establishment of Regional Business Centre (RBC) to provide guidance to the business community of Chitral and pledged to work joint with both organisations for the achievement of the goal.
On this occasion, Chairman PASDEC, Agha Shahid said that projects initiated by the public sector company had benefited the residents of Chitral and stressed need for enhancement of the role of local residents in this regard.
