Independence Day: mobile phone service closure for six hours

The Ministry of Interior on Friday forwarded a letter to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to suspend cellular services in Islamabad, on the occasion of Independence Day. The mobile phone service, the sources said, would remain suspended for six hours from 6:00am till 12:00pm on Sunday as the part of security measures for Independence Day celebrations planned in the federal capital.
District Administration of Islamabad Capital Territory had earlier recommended Interior Ministry to suspend the mobile networks on the Independence Day between 0600 hours to 1200 hours.
Sources said that the mobile phone service suspension is part of security measures for Independence Day celebrations planned in the federal capital.
