Independence Day was celebrated in Wah Cantt with great enthusiasm and national spirit in which a large number of people from all walks of life participated.
The day commenced with special prayers in the mosques in which prayers were offered for solidarity, prosperity and strengthening of the motherland. A flag hoisting ceremony was arranged in the Lawn of POF Headquarter (Board Office Building). Lieutenant General Omar Mahmood Hayat, HI (M) Chairman POF Board hoisted the flag. A large number of POF Officers, Officers and Jawans of Pak. Army, Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Air Force, DSG Battalion, FIU, PSU posted in POF and POF employees participated in the ceremony.
Addressing on this occasion Lieutenant General Omar Mahmood Hayat, HI(M) Chairman POF Board congratulated the participants on independence day and remarked that the freedom was a great blessing which was achieved with the numerous sacrifices rendered by our forefathers and now it was the prime responsibility of all of us to protect it. He further mentioned that we all have to reaffirm our pledge to make untiring efforts for the progress and prosperity of the motherland. He paid rich tributes to those martyrs of security forces & civilians who laid down their lives in the recent wave of terrorism.
He further added that these coward acts of the enemy could not lessen our courage and the whole Pakistani nation is fighting against these terrorists side by side the armed forces of Pakistan.
Insha Allah we would eliminate these terrorists from our country and make it a peaceful place. The ceremony concluded with the enchanting slogan of Pakistan Zinda Bad. Government buildings and Central Jamia Mosque were beautifully decorated and illuminated at night. People from all walks of life thronged at Central Jamia Mosque in order to witness the illumination at night.-PR
