Independence Day celebrated in KP, Fata with zeal

Like other parts of the country, the 70th Independence Day of the country was celebrated with national zeal and fervour in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Federally Administered Tribal Areas on Sunday.
In this connection, functions, flag hoisting ceremonies and rallies were held in various cities under the auspices of federal and provincial government institutions, trade bodies, administration of education institutions, various organisations, political parties and minority community.
In Peshawar, the main event was held at provincial civil secretariat, where Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak hoisted national flag.
Addressing on the occasion, the chief minister said that Independence Day wanted renewal of the commitment to join hands and sacrifice lives for the protection of the country.
Khattak invited the political leaders to work together for the prosperity of the country. He also suggested to form such a system in which people would not get exploited. He alleged that successive governments failed to identify the path of national development as the rulers accepted every illegal demand of the imperialist powers to prolong their rule.
Advisor to Chief Minister on Information Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani attended a function as chief guest organised by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Right to Information Commission at Nishtar Hall Peshawar in connection with Independence Day. Whereas, an Independence Day function held at Pakistan Academy for Rural Development in University Town in the city. Minister for Labour and Mineral Development Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli participated as chief guest in the event.
A ceremony was held at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KPCCI) house, wherein the president Zulfiqar Ali Khan hoisted flag. Similarly, a function was organised by University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar to celebrate the 70th Independence Day of Pakistan here on Sunday. Vice Chancellor UET Peshawar Professor Dr Iftikhar Hussain hoisted the national flag followed by National Anthem and special prayers for the country.
Likewise, the University of Peshawar celebrated 70th Independence Day of the country with impressive display of national spirit and variety of events. The day started with Quran Khwani in mosques of the campus.
The Vice Chancellor UoP Professor Dr Muhammad Rasul Jan hoisted the national flag in front of the convocation hall of the University which was followed by police parade by the campus peace corps.
A book exhibition comprising books written on the Pakistani movement and essence of patriotism was organised at the Central Library in collaboration with Pakistan Study Centre. A photo exhibition based on the theme of pictorial story of the Pakistan movement was on display at the main lobby of the Archaeology Museum Hall.
