'No indication' of terrorism in Swiss train attack

Swiss police said Sunday there was no indication a stabbing and fire attack on a passenger train was an act of terror, as a female victim and the assailant died of their injuries. Five other people were hurt in Saturday's assault in eastern Switzerland, including a six-year-old girl who was seriously injured.
One passenger, who tried to help extinguish the flames, described seeing a woman on fire and an injured child.
He said he was suffering flashbacks and plagued by fears he could have done more.
"The question of motive remains," police in the Saint Gallen region said in a statement. "To date there is no indication this was a terrorist or politically-motivated act."
Although too early to rule out an act of terror, the police statement should calm some of the speculation circulating since Saturday's attack, which followed several violent, often deadly assaults in Europe, many of which were claimed by the Islamic State group. Dozens of people were on the train at the time, police said.
The witness, identified only as 21-year-old Dino K., told the 20 Minutten daily's website he had suddenly heard a commotion and looked up.
"There was smoke everywhere, and I saw a young woman burning. She was burning from head to toe, like a torch," he said.
He described pulling out his water bottle to help another passenger put out the flames, before seeing more victims.
"A woman was lying on the ground with stab wounds to the stomach. There was blood everywhere," he said, adding that he had also seen a young girl with burn injuries to her face.
He said he kept reliving the sight of the burning woman and injured child. "I keep asking myself if I did enough to help," he said.
