Tanushree ‘hurt’ by Amitabh’s response on Nana Patekar harassment issue

Updated 01 Oct, 2018

Tanushree Dutta's harassment accusation against veteran actor Nana Patekar has raised many eyebrows in Bollywood industry, and while many celebs came out in support of the actress, Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan evaded the question.

This did not sit well with Tanushree, who said she was rather hurt at Amitabh's response. “I am hurt, as these are people who do movies on social causes. They play roles in films and the audience applauds. But when it comes to standing up and doing something about what is happening in front of you, there are these evasive statements that don't make sense,” Hindustan Times reported.

At the trailer launch of his upcoming film ‘Thugs of Hindostan’, Amitabh was asked about the ongoing controversy. He said that since he was neither Tanushree nor Nana, he would be unable to give a remark on it.

Tanushree also reacted on celebs evasive reaction. Speaking about the same, she told, “They are exposing themselves. This is the response of those who talk about women's empowerment and support the #MeToo movement happening in America and when that is happening here, this is how they respond”.

Despite support from the likes of Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Twinkle Khanna and Sonam Kapoor, Bollywood biggies such as Salman Khan, Amitabh and Aamir Khan have refused on comment on the ongoing controversy.

Tanushree has recently released a new statement, where she said she would return in a while. “My throat is swollen, voice down and I'm unwell because of the exhaustion of the last few days,” she said.

She further added, “I only come out and interact socially and even speak only when need be for work or other social commitments. But last few days I've had to go all out talking and interacting with press up to 16 hours a day for the sake of this movement and it has drained me out a bit. I will be back in few days and join the fight again. This is not just a news story anymore my friends. This is a war that I have been called to partake in for not only my sake but for the sake for countless millions. It is my dharma; my duty as a human being,” Indian media reported.
