Renowned Urdu poet/writer Sarfraz Shahid, father of Sohail Sarfraz, chief reporter Business Recorder, Islamabad bureau, has been conferred with the Presidential Award of Pride of Performance for his meritorious work in the field of literature. The award was conferred on him by President Mamnoon Hussain in recognition of his contribution to literature on the eve of 70th Independence Day which was celebrated with great zeal and fervour on Sunday.
With 30 books at his credit, Sarfraz Shahid has represented Pakistan in a number of national and international Mushaira and seminars at foreign destinations like United States, Canada and UK. With ample experience at Meteorological Department, Islamabad, he has also been given other national and international awards in recognition of his life time services towards promotion and evolution of humorous poetry in Pakistan.
