No privatization of livestock department under consideration: Malkani

Sindh Minister for livestock and fisheries, Muhammad Ali Malkani has said that the privatization of livestock department or its any component was not under consideration and the provincial government is focusing on improving the performance of the department. Talking to officials and later with media persons during a visit to the office of director animal husbandry breading at Hussainabad on Tuesday, he said that all officials were warned for disposing of their responsibilities with dedication and honesty of getting ready to face strict actions.
He said that some shortcomings or deficiencies might exist in the department and he warned negligent officers and absentee employees to change their attitude and in case of failing in this regard a strict action would be initiated against negligent officials of the department. Issue of promotion of officers was also reviewed and soon meeting of department promotion committee would be called so that officers waiting for promotion may get their right, he said.
The minister said that some illegal occupants encroached the land of animal husbandry and legal action to be taken in the regard for removal of illegal encroachment on government land. Responding to a query, the minister said that a large quantity of milk goes to waste due to improper handling and government was framing a new project in this regard.
To another question, he said that the Sindh government has issued fishing licenses to fishermen and persons attached with the profession may get such licenses from the department concerned. Efforts were geared up to ensure better facilities to livestock farmers at veterinary centres of provincial government throughout the province besides carrying out repair and development works at veterinary centres, he said, adding that he himself would visit veterinary centres in all districts.
Director General animal husbandry Aslam Pervaiz Umrani, Director General Fisheries Ghulam Muhammad Mahar, Director Animal Husbandry Hyderabad Mushtaque Hussain Jokhio, Director Animal Planning Abdul Qadir Junejo, Director Jamil Ahmed Shaikh and other officials were also present at the occasion.
