Karachi Port's activities

The Karachi Port handled 150,498 tonnes of cargo comprising 103,077 tonnes of import cargo and 47,421 tonnes of export cargo including 7,995 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday The total import cargo of 103,077 tonnes comprised of 65,823 tonnes of containerised cargo; 15,844 tonnes of general cargo; 15,681 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 13,844 tonnes of coal; 1,827 tonnes of DAP and 5,729 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 47,421 tonnes comprised of 32,543 tonnes of containerised cargo; 110 tonnes of general cargo; 10,700 tonnes of iron powder and 4,068 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 7,995 containers comprising of 4,612 containers import and 3,383 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,385 of 20's and 1,495 of 40's loaded while 7 of 20's and 115 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 974 of 20's and 240 of 40's loaded containers while 583 of 20's and 673 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely Hyundai Jakarta, Sima Giselle, Bay Pearl, Evita, MT Quetta and Izumo carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. YM Enlightenment, APL Germany, JO Redwood, Kiran Bosphorus and Kurushima carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There were two ships namely Ocean Jupiter and Chipolgrok Star carrying oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while two ships namely Cape Marin and Transformer OL carrying containers and mill scale respectively are expected to sail on Thursday. There was one vessel viz. Esi Arctic carrying project cargo due to arrive on Wednesday while two vessels viz. Cosco Fukuyama and Leopard Staff carrying containers and project cargo respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
