Activity at Karachi & Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 114,207 tonnes of cargo comprising 90,589 tonnes of import cargo and 23,618 tonnes of export cargo including 5,902 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday The total import cargo of 90,589 tonnes comprised of 37,628 tonnes of containerised cargo; 15,104 tonnes of general cargo; 000 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 11,157 tonnes of coal; 000 tonnes of soyabean meal; 000 tonnes of DAP; 000 tonnes of rock phosphate and 26,700 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 23,618 tonnes comprised of 13,636 tonnes of containerised cargo; 000 tonnes of general cargo; 9,750 tonnes of iron powder and 232 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,902 containers comprising of 2,748 containers import and 3,154 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 777 of 20's and 917 of 40's loaded while 9 of 20's and 64 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 281 of 20's and 303 of 40's loaded containers while 999 of 20's and 634 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eight ships namely Wide India, MSC Imma, Kota Karim, Cape Marin, Ocean Jupiter, Kurushima, Da Yu Xia and Chipolbrok Star carrying containers, oil tanker, steel and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessels viz. Kota Karim, Ital Laguna, Bomer Jupiter, Maersk Kiera and Esa Arctic carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There was one ship namely Transformer OL carrying mill scale sailed out to sea on Thursday, while two ships namely Ital Laguna and Bedford Castle carrying containers and steel respectively are expected to sail on Friday.
There were two vessels viz. Cosco Fukuyama and Leopard Staff carrying containers and project cargo respectively due to arrive on Thursday while five vessels viz. MOL Endowment, Al Abdali, United Jurney, St Aqua and Positive Star carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and vehicle respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

The total import cargo of 104,337 tonnes includes 49,900 tonnes of furnace oil; 9,797 tonnes of palm oil; 1,386 tonnes of general cargo; 9,035 tonnes of chemical; 7,049 tonnes of canola seeds and 27,170 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 28,822 tonnes includes 1,430 tonnes of cement; 4,060 tonnes of rice and 23,332 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,710 containers comprising of 1,430 containers import and 1,280 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There were three ships namely CV MSC Albany, MV Diamond Sea and MV Hong source carrying containers, cement and project cargo sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships namely MT SC Tain Jin and MT Nassau Energy carrying palm oil and furnace oil are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eleven vessels viz. CV Maersk Stockholm, CV MSC Albany, CV Maersk Memphis, MV Diamond Sea, MV CMB Adrienne, MV Hong Source, MT Sea Pegasus, MT Chemstar Tiger, MT SC Tain Jin, MT Nassau Energy and MT Globe Tanya currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, general cargo, canola seeds, chemical, LPG, palm oil and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as seven ships namely CV Maipo, MV Pacefic Stream, MT Liberty-N, MT Mari Ugland, MT Mezaira, MT Bahra and MT Sea Scout carrying containers, phosphoric acid, LPG, diesel oil and furnace oil at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Thursday.
There were two vessels viz. CV Maipo and MT Mari Ugland carrying containers and diesel oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday. There are two ships namely CV Nicoline Maersk and MV Pacific Singapore carrying containers and furnace oil due to arrive on Thursday. There are two ships namely CV Maersk Innoshima and CV CMA CGM Tosca carrying containers due to arrive on Friday.
