Gem, jewelry export reaches to $8.492 million in fiscal year 2016

Pakistan's jewelry export reached $8.492 million last fiscal year 2015-16, up by 29 percent, official figures indicate. Jewelry export shows a growth of $1.898 million last fiscal year from $6.594 million in fiscal year 2014-15, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics says. In June 2016, jewelry export shot up by 184 percent or $0.848 million to $1.310 million from $0.462 million.
Gems export slumped by 50 percent or $3.902 million to $3.944 million last fiscal year from $7.846 million in 2014-15. In term of value, gems export posted a fall of 36 percent or five metric tons to nine metric tons last fiscal year from 14 metric tons in 2014-15. Gems export dipped to $249 million in June 2016 from $360 million in June 2015, depicting a decline of 30 percent or $111 million. Export volume of gems export however remained stagnant with one metric ton in June 2016.
