A local leader of the Jamaat-e-Islami from the city, Mirza Tanweer Ahmed, was gunned down by two motor cycle riders near Sessions Court on Saturday. Only four days before the polling day, some PML-N hooligans had opened firing at his office due to which two JI workers were killed and six others were injured. He had appeared in the case in the Sessions Court during the day and was on his way back when two persons on motorcycle opened fire on him killing him on the spot. Earlier, an independent candidate for Chairmanship from the said UC, Hashim Khan, was also assassinated. Ameer, JIP, Senator Sirajul Haq, JI Secretary General, Liaqat Baloch, JI Information Secretary, Amirul Azeem, and JI, Lahore chief, Zikrullah Mujahid, have strongly condemned the murder of Miza Tanveer Ahmed, and held the ruling party responsible for the crime.
