A woman was gunned down on Sunday after she resisted alleged kidnapping bid of her minor daughter in Lines Area, a densely populated area of Karachi. Residents of Lines Area took to streets following the killing, blocking the Corridor III by setting tires on fire and demanding of the government to arrest the culprits.
Talking to a private television channel, the minor girl, who is daughter of slain woman Aqeela, said that she along with her mother was coming back from a medical store after purchasing medicines for a baby boy when two armed men came and shot her mother.
According to police, husband of Aqeela, identified as Amanullah, also got injured in the incident. They said he received a bullet wound on his leg.
SP Jamshed Town Tahir Noorani said that the incident seems to be a result of domestic dispute. However, he added that investigation is under way. A heavy contingent of police put the security cordon in the area and launched a search operation.
