The business community of Southern Punjab on Monday hailed the government's decision to pay refund claims to the exporters and businessmen and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will distribute the cheques on Tuesday (today) in a ceremony to be held at Prime Minister Secretariat.
President of Multan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI), Fareed Mughis Sheikh said that the PM took initiative personally to redress the grievances of the exporters and businessmen. He said that the Federal Board of Revenue should finalise all the refund claims and prepare their cheques. He said that Refund Payment Orders (RPOs) have been issued by the field formations, but cheques have not been issued by the FBR Headquarters.
The accumulated sales tax refund of only few companies has crossed a figure of Rs 1 billion. Fareed Sheikh said that we highlighted the issue at all relevant forums to ensure clearance of pending refunds claims at the earliest to run the business smoothly.
