Completion of projects in shortest time top priority: Wapda chief

Newly-appointed Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) Chairman Lieutenant General Muzammil Hussain (R) said Thursday that completion of the under-construction hydropower projects in the shortest possible time would be his first priority. Also, he added, the construction work on ready-to-construct water and hydropower projects would also be initiated on fast track basis by removing bottlenecks in their implementation.
He presided over a meeting at the Wapda House after taking over charge of his office. It was attended by Members of the Authority, Secretary Wapda, Managing Director (Administration) Wapda and other senior officers. He said he accepted the challenging assignment of Chairman Wapda and would make all out efforts to increment the hydropower projects at the earliest.
Chairman Wapda also interacted with employees of the Authority and assured them of working together for their well-being, improving the image of the organisation and developing the country's economy. Lieutenant General Muzammil Hussain (R) is the 22nd Chairman of Wapda. Prior to his appointment as Chairman Wapda, he served Pakistan Army for about 38 years. During his service in Pakistan Army, he discharged his duties on a number of important positions including Chief Instructor in Command and Staff College Quetta and Div Commander in Gilgit-Baltistan. He also served as Inspector General (Training & Evaluation) in General Headquarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi and commanded 30 Corps Gujranwala. He has been a regular speaker in seminars on Pakistan successful transition to democracy and economic positive trajectory in the universities in UK.
