MQM chairman unseated in District West

The result of District West was changed after municipal chairman Khawaja Ahmed of the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) was unseated here on Thursday. The returning officer ordered a scrutiny of election results after raising several objections. The results were declared null and void, and opponent Asif Khan of the Karachi Ittehad was declared as the winner.
Khawaja Ahmed had received 36 votes, of which 24 votes were found to be marked with a pen and were rejected. As a result he was left with 12 votes after which his victory was declared invalid. Asif Khan had received 31 votes in the municipal elections. It may be mention that Asif Khan was PML-N candidate supported by Karachi Ittehad.
