Socio-political circles have expressed deep concern over the depriving the people of Sialkot from viewing the "Azadi Train" and said that high ups of railway authority was intentionally ignoring this export-oriented city and hub of cottage industry of the country from viewing the Azadi Train.
Why the people of Sialkot were ignored from viewing the Azadi Train they questioned to Federal Minister for Railway. The People of Sialkot are also Pakistanis but being treated step-motherly since long and the Railway authorities are depriving the people of Sialkot from train service by stopping train service on different routs.
They appealed to Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to hold probe in this serious negligence of Railway Authority for depriving the people of Sialkot from viewing Azadi Train and they demanded the restoration of trains from Sialkot at earliest possible.
Socio-political circles alleged that railway authorities had always ignored this city in the past and still this practice is continuing. Most of train service to different cities had been suspended since long and people of Sialkot were confronting with multifarious travelling problems. These circles further stated that construction or renovation of railway station is not the public service its duty of the authorities. The real service is to provide comfortable travelling facilities to the masses to their doorstep but unfortunately Pakistan railways had only focused on stopping train service.
The railway authorities had badly failed to provide modern and comfortable travelling facilities to the people; despite of demanding the fast railcar service between Sialkot-Rawalpindi and to improve the service of Karachi bound Allama Iqbal Express as well as fast train service between Sialkot-Lahore and Sialkot-Faisalabad but nobody paid proper heed on their genuine demands.
The impact of lying down of railway track between Sialkot-Daska would help in accelerating the trade and commerce activities besides supportive in speedy handling of exportable consignments while it will reduce the distance between Sialkot-Lahore they said. At present most of the passengers were preferred to travel by luxury coaches or their own transport because of the Lahore bound train had lack facilities and long distance they said.
