Peshawar district government's properties to be audited

District government Peshawar has decided to bring the rent of the properties of the City District Government at par with the current market rate and also to do audit of district government properties. The decision was taken in a meeting held here with District Nazim, Mohammad Asim Khan in the chair here Friday. Those who attended were included District Naib Nazim, Syed Qasim Ali Shah, Director, Co-ordination Sahibzada Mohammad Tariq, Deputy Director, Colleges, Mian Shafiq-ur-Rehman, and Account Officer Aziz Khan.
During the meeting Director Co-ordination, Sahibzada Mohammad Tariq gave detailed briefing to the District Nazim regarding the properties of the City District Government and receipts earned from them and about those doing business inside them. On this occasion, it was revealed that more than 70% of these properties instead of the real tenants are under the occupation of others. These properties are rented out on many fold higher rent than the official rate. The meeting decided the bringing of the rent of the City District Government properties at par with the current market rate and decided to take all traders into confidence in this regard and directed taking stern action will be taken those who had sublet these properties.
The meeting also decided to cut the time period of lease to five years and said that tenants would be responsible for look after and repairing of the rented properties and in case of damage, the tenant would face action. Addressing the meeting, District Nazim, Asim Khan said that these properties are the asset of general public and they would be provided full attention and no one would be allowed for their use for any kind of illegal business.
He said that the income generated from the properties of the district government would be spent on the welfare of the people and only the actual tenant would be allowed to conduct business in them. He said that those subletting the properties of the district government would face stern action.
