The country's telecom import fell by 5.13 percent to $74.261 million in the first month of a new fiscal year 2016-17, official figures say. Telecom import declines by $4.016 million in July 2016-17 from $78.277 million in July 2015-16, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics indicates. On a monthly basis: Telecom import slid by 32 percent or $33.739 million in June 2016 from $108 million in June 2015.
Import of mobile phones went down by two percent or $0.833 million to $46.201 million in July 2016-17 from $45.368 million in June 2015-16. In June 2016, mobile handset import plunged by 30 percent or $19.773 million from $65.974 million in June 2015.
