The Karachi Port handled 118,450 tonnes of cargo comprising 88,882 tonnes of import cargo and 29,568 tonnes of export cargo including 5,202 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday The total import cargo of 88,882 tonnes comprised of 36,102 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,601 tonnes of general cargo; 35,679 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 32,800 tonnes of coal; 3,679 tonnes of DAP and 9,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 29,568 tonnes comprised of 21,908 tonnes of containerised cargo; 160 tonnes of general cargo and 7,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,202 containers comprising of 2,584 containers import and 2,618 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 900 of 20's and 806 of 40's loaded while 18 of 20's and 27 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 452 of 20's and 400 of 40's loaded containers while 330 of 20's and 518 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were five ships namely KMTC Mumbai, MSC Imma, APL Agate, Bomar Rissen and Kota Kaya carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. Kota Kaya, MOL Dominance, Ever Divine, Shah Deniz, Salzgitter and Mito carrying containers, oil tanker, vehicle and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There were four ships namely Ever Divine, Dragon Fortune, Kmarin Genoa and Mito carrying containers, oil tanker, coal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while two ships namely Padma and Shah Deniz carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Friday.
There was one vessel viz. Cevdet A carrying chemical due to arrive on Thursday while six vessels viz. Fowairet, Champion Tern, MT Shalamar, Seoyoung, Ebony Ray and Asavary carrying containers, oil tankers and chemical respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
