Media houses: ATC sends 10 MQM workers to jail

As many as ten workers of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) were sent to jail on Saturday over accusations of treason and attack on media houses in Karachi. The accused were produced before Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) for hearing during which, the investigation officer requested to extend their remand for further probe.
The court ordered to send MQM workers to jail and directed the officer to submit case challan as soon as possible. Meanwhile the court has also remanded MQM target killers Kashif Tanda and Junaid in jail for murdering Waheed Qureshi and Sohail Anjum Advocate.
Earlier, the arrested activists appeared before magistrate for identification parade. It was learnt that a total of 54 workers have been detained in different cases. It is pertinent to mention here that a case under the provisions of terrorism, vandalism and rebellion attempt has been lodged against MQM workers at Artillery Maidan Police Station. Another case was lodged against the party leader while Interior Ministry demanded the British authorities to take action against him as he has been living in London in self-imposed exile for over two decades.
