The Punjab Agriculture Department (PAD) has advised the cotton growers of both traditional and BT varieties to carry out twice a week pest scouting of their fields to ensure eradication of insects. In an advisory issued here Saturday, the department asked the growers to take timely measures to avoid damages by recent rain spells which include proper drainage of rain water from fields to some nearby place. It also urged to take care of weeds and using insecticides of new chemistry in consultation with local experts of the agriculture department.
