Electronic I form hurts trade, imports: KATI

06 Sep, 2016

President of Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) Zahid Saeed has demanded of the government to delay implementation of electronic I form until removal of technical ambiguities as it hurt trading and import activities. He said the process of consultation with all possible stake-holders should be adopted before implementing any new procedures. To avoid the complications, he said, new system must be implemented on trial basis to sort out problems.
Head of KATI's standing committee for Custom, Port & Shipping Farazur Rehman said that importers and clearing agent were facing many technical issues due to this system. He urged that customs and FBR should arrange training programs and seminars for importers and clearing agent before implementation of this form because if the issues would not be resolved, it could adversely affect the economic, trade and industrial activity of the country, directly or indirectly.
