Mobile phone services partially suspended for second consecutive day

Mobile phone services were partially suspended in twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi for the second consecutive day on Tuesday to avoid untoward situations on the occasion of Defence Day celebrations and ceremonies. Official sources at Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) revealed to Business Recorder that services were suspended after receiving a summary from the Interior Ministry which was duly passed on to the cellular operators.
Officials further said that cellular services around 10km radius of General Headquarters in Rawalpindi were suspended, which included parts of Islamabad. An official of a mobile phone company confirmed that services in Rawalpindi and parts of Islamabad remained offline from 4pm till 11pm. Further, all wireless services (WiMAX, EvDO, 2G, 3G, 4G) remained offline. Mobile phone services in Rawalpindi and Islamabad were suspended on Tuesday as well, during the same time, which were restored late in the evening around 11pm.
