Upgrading cottage industry: Smeda invites proposals

The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) has invited proposals from women chambers, associations and other stakeholders to strengthen the women entrepreneurs and upgrade the cottage industry.
According to SMEDA's Women Entrepreneurship Development Cell (WED)'s representative Tania Buttar, initially the process has been commenced from South Punjab by holding a "Women Business Need Assessment Workshop" in collaboration with Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Multan Division.
She said the workshop aimed at getting feedback on "prescribed need assessment forms" to compile the women entrepreneurs' opinions/proposals, She said such workshops would also be held in other regions of the country to open up informal and candid interactive sessions among the stakeholders. Series of such workshops will provide a forum for participants to exchange views, best practices, ideas to find solutions for current and emerging issues for future planning and implementing the projects, she added.
