Fisheries activities at the harbour are yet to start with no offloads of a catch since one week following Eid-ul-Azha holidays, an official says that the seafood landing will resume from next Monday. Talking to Business Recorder on Saturday, the harbour officials said that the fishing activities were at a halt due to Eid holidays that would likely to restart from Monday. "Scores of vessels loaded with catch are moored at the harbor navigational channel since last Sunday for unloading", they said.
Fishermen Co-operative Society (FCS) that is responsible for the unloading and marketing of seafood catch at the auction halls has been at closed during the holidays, which however caused a delay in landing of already arrived fisheries haul, they said, adding that "banks and government offices will be open from Monday at the harbour".
The holiday, they said, should have ended on last Thursday, the third day of Eid, but the government and FCS officials continued to remain absent to attend the offices. "The chief minister Sindh has issued directives for all officials of the Sindh government to be on their jobs by Thursday but none followed them as a result like many other departments, fisheries harbor remained without activities," they added.
